We Do Quite A Lot!
Welcome to the McMinnville Lions Club, where community spirit and service come together through a variety of programs and events. Our club is dedicated to enriching the lives of our community. We do this a number of ways. We provide scholarships for high school students in our community to continue their education. We support various groups and teams from the high school. We have a Medical Device loan program for anyone in our community with a need. We support community events - we put on an annual Easter Egg Hunt, support Beyond Backpacks, put on the annual Taste of Mac (a delightful celebration of local food and drink), and we spread holiday cheer with our beloved Christmas Tree Stand. Additionally, we engage in numerous community support activities throughout the year, all aimed at fostering a vibrant and supportive community.
Beyond these main events, the McMinnville Lions Club is constantly providing assistance to local families in need, supporting vision and hearing initiatives, and participating in environmental projects. Our commitment to service drives us to continuously seek ways to improve and enrich the lives of those in our community. Together, we can continue to build a stronger, more vibrant community. Medical Devices
The Lions Club is commited to improving the quality of life to the citizens of McMinnville. One of the many services we offer is a robust selection of medical devices free of charge. Come down to our Medical Devices Office and we will loan you any item we have on hand.
Childrens' Vision Screening
Detecting any eyesight issues as early as possible is important for proper development in and out of school. That's why every year we screen local school children with professional level equipment to detect vision problems that may need referral for professional services.
Eyeglasses & Hearing Aid Donations
Your McMinnville Lions Club supports the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation (OLSHF). Over 75,000 eyeglasses are collected every year from communities across the state, mostly thanks to the efforts of Lions Clubs who collect the eyeglasses. If you have a pair of glasses or hearing aids that you would like to donate, locations of drop boxes are below.

They are devoted young people who realize the power of action. Together, Leos and Lions form a powerful partnership — one of mutual respect where Lions learn from the innovative insights of Leos, and where Leos gain access to the proven strategies of those who’ve successfully served the world for decades.
Beyond Backpacks
The McMinnville Lions Club supports Beyond Backpacks. We volunteer every year at the annual event (established in 2004). Beyond Backpacks helps children in Yamhill County from high needs families in grades K-12 receive new backpacks, "chalked" full of school supplies. Children who attend the event get to pick out their own brand new backpack and receive school supplies appropriate to their grade level. Other supplies needed for their families are also available that day. Refreshments are served and the children are encouraged to visit and play while their parents are able to learn more about community services available to them. Beyond Backpacks is a totally donation-led organization and is a coordinated effort supported by many churches, service organizations, businesses and individuals throughout Yamhill county. Last year we were able to serve over 750 children, yet still had a waiting list. Beyond Backpacks goal is to never leave a child without the supplies they need to start the school year off right.
Christmas Trees
The McMinnville Lions Club's Christmas Tree Stand is a cherished holiday tradition. Each year, we sell a variety of Christmas trees to fundraise for our projects. The tree stand not only provides high-quality trees for the holiday season but also brings the community together. Volunteers from the club and the community work the stand, creating a festive atmosphere that embodies the spirit of giving.
Scholarships
Education is a key focus for the McMinnville Lions Club. Each year, we provide scholarships to deserving McMinnville High School students. These scholarships help alleviate the financial burden of higher education and support students in their pursuit of academic and professional goals. By investing in our youth, we aim to foster a brighter future for our community.
